Muscle Pain Relief in Seconds
Muscle Pain Relief in 90 Seconds Dr. Dale L. Anderson maintains that most athletes are only 90 seconds away from getting rid of most of their muscle problems, without medication. Anderson's technique, "fold and hold," combines biomechanical self-treatment with the natural healing powers of the human body. Anderson's four basic steps are as follows: "Find a tender or painful spot on your body. Fold your body over the tender spot until the pain disappears or becomes 75 percent improved and the painful condition is relieved. Hold this comfortable position for at least ninety seconds. Return slowly to a normal position. Do the 'fold and hold' three times a day for two weeks or until the pain evaporates." Of particular interest for coaches and runners, "fold and hold" can be used to treat shin splints, as well as pain centered in the hip, ankle, back or foot. Anderson says that "fold and hold" provides extended pain relief by treating the cause, not the symptom. It requires no drugs, dietary supplements, special instruments or machines. "You can do it yourself, there's no need for expensive tests or treatment from physicians, physical therapists or chiropractors." Now retired, Anderson had a long practice as a family doctor, is a board-certified, Mayo-Clinic-trained general surgeon and is a board-certified, emergency physician. |
