Due to the course layout of the Illinois State Meet, and after some bad experiences, Coach Joe Newton has developed a unique strategy to deal with the situation.

This audio-tape has a play time of approximately 30 minutes. It resulted from an inquiry by the Cross Country Journal publisher who was led to believe that Newton was having his team run negative splits in the Meet. That was not the case, but Joe's response revealed his State Meet strategy and his thinking behind it.
